YOUR JOURNEY

DAY 2 - PORTO · MESÃO FRIO · RÉGUA · FOLGOSA · PINHÃO · CASAL DE LOIVOS · RÉGUA

ENTERING THE HEART OF THE DOURO

After breakfast, leave Porto behind and begin your journey into the Douro Valley. The landscape changes dramatically as you approach Mesão Frio. Mountains open onto deep river valleys, and the first great terraces of vines begin to appear — landscapes shaped by generations of Douro winemakers.
Stop at Miradouro do Imaginário, a spectacular viewpoint overlooking the Douro. From here, the river and vineyard terraces create one of the region’s most memorable panoramas. Continue to Peso da Régua, the historic center of the Port wine trade and one of the most important gateways to the Douro wine region. Visit the Douro Museum, which tells the story of the landscape, people and centuries-old traditions that transformed this rugged valley into a world-famous wine region.

Then continue to Quinta da Pacheca for a guided visit and wine tasting. Here, the Douro becomes more than a landscape — it becomes something you can taste. Later, travel toward Folgosa and Pinhão, where you will board a traditional Rabelo boat for a scenic experience on the Douro River. These iconic wooden boats were historically used to transport Port wine barrels from the upper Douro Valley toward Porto. Today, they offer an unforgettable way to experience the vineyards from the water.Continue to Casal de Loivos and discover the region’s olive-oil heritage at the Museu do Azeite before returning to Peso da Régua. Overnight in Peso da Régua.

DAY 3 - RÉGUA · SÃO LEONARDO DA GALAFURA · SABROSA · QUINTA DO SEIXO · VILA REAL · AMARANTE · PORTO

THE DOURO FROM ABOVE — AND FROM THE GLASS

After breakfast, leave the hotel and climb toward São Leonardo da Galafura, one of the most celebrated viewpoints in the Douro. From approximately 640 meters above sea level, the river winds through an immense landscape of terraces and vineyards. Portuguese writer Miguel Torga described this place not simply as a panorama, but as an “excess of nature.” Standing above the valley, it is easy to understand why. Continue toward Sabrosa and Quinta do Seixo, one of the emblematic estates associated with Sandeman. Enjoy a guided winery visit and tasting of Port wines, discovering different expressions of one of Portugal’s most famous wines while surrounded by the vineyards from which they originate. Later, continue toward Vila Real before arriving in Amarante. Set beside the Tâmega River and surrounded by the Marão and Aboboreira mountains, Amarante is one of northern Portugal’s most charming historic towns. Explore the Church of São Gonçalo, the historic convent complex and the famous São Gonçalo Bridge. Enjoy free time to wander through the old streets, discover local shops or taste some of the town’s traditional convent sweets. Return to Porto. Overnight in Porto.

DAY 4 — PORTO

After breakfast, discover Porto — the city that gave Portugal its name and one of the most atmospheric cities in Europe.  Explore Praça da Liberdade and the historic center before visiting São Francisco Church, famous for its extraordinary gilded interior and historic catacombs. Continue into the Ribeira district, where narrow streets descend toward the Douro and centuries of trade, river life and wine culture remain woven into the city. Enjoy time to experience Porto beyond the landmarks — browse independent shops, discover local cafés, or simply sit beside the river and watch the city unfold. Lunch and the afternoon are free, giving you the freedom to explore Porto according to your own interests.
Overnight in Porto.

DAY 5 — PORTO · DEPARTURE

After breakfast, enjoy your final moments in Porto before your private transfer to Porto Airport. Your guide will assist with the departure arrangements and airport check-in. End of services.
